About the Global Sustainable Logistics Survey (GSLS)
What is the GSLS?
The Global Sustainable Logistics Survey (GSLS) is an international research initiative that tracks progress toward more sustainable logistics systems worldwide.
Launched in Europe by the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) and the Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains (CSLS) at Kühne Logistics University, the survey gathers insights from senior logistics decision-makers across regions and industries.
By collecting data over time, the GSLS aims to build a clearer picture of how logistics systems are evolving and where further progress is needed.
Why Sustainable Logistics Matters
Logistics systems are essential for global trade and economic development, but they also contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions.
Improving the sustainability of logistics is therefore critical for achieving global climate and development goals.
What the Survey Does
The GSLS collects annual insights from logistics decision-makers around the world.
The survey aims to:
- Track trends in logistics sustainability over time.
- Identify regional differences and challenges.
- Provide independent, academically rigorous insights.
- Make results and data publicly accessible.
By doing so, the GSLS seeks to support informed decision-making among businesses, policymakers, and researchers.
Supporting the UN Decade of Action on Sustainable Transport
The GSLS contributes to the United Nations Decade of Action on Sustainable Transport (2026–2035) by providing data and insights that help monitor progress toward more sustainable transport and logistics systems.
The survey’s data collection phase will start in March/April 2026.
The first results of the survey are expected in Summer 2026.
